My Story

At just 11 years old, Dr. Elena Zamolodchikova made a life-changing decision: she would become a musician. Despite being the first in her family to pursue music professionally, she followed her calling with determination and never looked back. Today, she is a distinguished pianist, harpsichordist, and educator whose career reflects a deep love for music and a commitment to inspiring others.

Growing up in Russia, Elena’s path to becoming a musician was far from easy. With no family background in music to guide her, she relied on her passion and resilience to navigate the demanding world of classical training. Her biggest dream was to study at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory—a goal she achieved at 19.

Elena’s acceptance into a double major program in piano performance and historical keyboards at Moscow Conservatory marked the beginning of her journey into the world of early music. This experience not only shaped her artistic identity but also instilled in her an appreciation for the richness and diversity of musical traditions.

For many years, Elena dedicated herself to early music, mastering the harpsichord and exploring the intricacies of Baroque and Classical repertoire. Her passion for historical performance extended beyond playing; she spent eight years working in historical keyboard instrument making, delving into the craftsmanship that brings these instruments to life.

Eventually, her focus expanded to include modern piano performance, blending her deep knowledge of historical styles with the expressive possibilities of the piano. This dual expertise has allowed her to approach music with a unique perspective, bridging the past and present.

As a teacher, Dr. Zamolodchikova emphasizes not only technical mastery but also the joy and fulfillment that music can bring. She encourages her students to embrace the discipline required to excel, while fostering a genuine love for the art.

She often tells her students that one should pursue a career in music only if they cannot imagine doing anything else. This philosophy underscores her belief in the importance of dedication and passion in achieving artistic success.

Dr. Zamolodchikova’s journey—from a young girl with a dream to an accomplished musician and educator—is a testament to her unwavering commitment to her art. Whether through her performances, her teaching, or her work in historical keyboard instrument making, she continues to inspire others to find their own stories in music.
